WoodAware Website Relaunch: What’s New?

May 03, 2019

This week, AWC relaunched the new and improved WoodAware website. The website continues to serve as an informational resource on wood construction - aiming to educate the fire service on traditional and engineered wood products used in residential and non-residential construction - but now includes the most up to date materials.

Improvements include the addition of the International Code Council (ICC) tall mass timber code changes that were recently approved for the 2021 ICC building codes. The website covers information on the new types of construction, new fire safety requirements, and tools for safe management of these materials on construction sites and in occupied buildings. Additionally, fire services will be able to access a toolkit for navigating and understanding the new code changes.

New site pages to explore include:

  • Tall Mass Timber – Includes the 2021 ICC code changes, mass timber fire tests and results, a collection of some of the tallest wood buildings, and educational courses on building with tall wood.
  • News & Events – Includes the latest happenings in traditional wood and tall wood construction across the nation.
  • Code & Standards – Includes a code map detailing the latest codes across the U.S. in addition to fire safety standards resources.
  • Construction & Products – Includes pictorial construction guides in addition to information and uses for individual wood products.

AWC is thrilled that the revamped WoodAware site will continue to provide accurate information and tools on wood building codes and standards intended to ensure the safety of fire services. We hope you enjoy exploring the latest improvements!
